Tweedmouth Amateurs 5 Chirnside Colts 105/05/2012
Tweedmouth progressed into the third round of the Forsyth cup, with a fine display against a strong Chirnside team. What a difference when the Amateurs have most of their squad available.
They played some of the best football of the season. The first half goals came from Robertson, Clark and Blythe, to give them a comfortable 3-0 half time lead, but not being disrespectful to the colts it could have been five or six.
The second half the colts came a little more into it and Paulson in the home goal had to pull off a good save to help them out, but with twenty minutes into the half the Colts did manage to score, only for Clark to restore the three goal lead twenty seconds later.
Cromarty back from injury scored the fifth to make sure his side went through.
CFC Bowholm 4 Tweedmouth Colts 2 28/04/2012
The young Colts made the long journey to Bowholm on Saturday with a depleted squad and put in a slightly improved performance on last week.
Tweedmouth started the brighter and the ever improving Purves was causing the home defence all kinds of problems, his hard work and closing down led to MacGregor getting the opening goal. Bowholm responded almost immediately when yet another long ball resulted in their forward equalising. Tweedmouth heads dropped after this allowing Bowholm to get a foothold in the game and Bowholm scored again just before half time taking them into the second half 2-1 leaders.
As has been the story all season individual mistakes let the home side take a 4 -1 lead and for some reason this seemed to allow the Colts to relax and play some football and could have staged a remarkable turn around, having 3 or 4 clear cut chances before the end of the game. They did manage to pull one back following a Cumming free kick which Grieve despatched over the keepers head.
Special mention for Mark Purves who has been playing out of position in recent weeks and performance was the highlight of the day.

Winton 5 Tweedmouth Colts 121/04/2012
The Colts travelled to Winton on Saturday and were giving an all round footballing lesson in commitment and self-discipline.
They found themselves 3-0 down by halftime and along with a change of shape in the second half the Colts improved ever so slightly and they pulled a goal back through Henderson. This only seemeed to spur Winton on and they scored another two goals in reply.
Winton created chances whenever it suited them and were firing at will, on a day when the Colts had no answer for them. With the league campaign drawing to a close the Colts need to finish on a high and build again for next season.

Lauder 0 Tweedmouth Colts 314/04/2012
Goals from Purves,Ramsay and the ever youthful Grieve secured a hard earned but well deserved three points for the young Colts.
Tweedmouth started the brighter with Patterson,Inglis and Purves causing the home defence all sorts of problems with there pace and intelligent running and deservedly took the lead through Purves. This forced Lauder into a change of formation and a change of approach to the game which the young Colts did well to cope with and not be intimidated by.
Tweedmouth got a dream start to the second half when they netted through Grieve and were now in total control with Paul Cain and JB Clark again dominating midfield and were rewarded when young Ramsay,on in place of an ever enthusiastc Henderson in a tactical change, got the third to effectively kill the game off.
This was a good alround effort by the young Colts who could still have a say in the race for promotion with the top three tems to play in the league.

Hearts Of Liddesdale 3 Tweedmouth Amateurs 114/04/2012
Tweedmouth made the long trip to Newcastleton on saturday and bowed out of the walls cup. Four weeks without a game didnt help the Amateurs and missing some key players showed. The way the third goal was conceded shows what kind of day the Amateurs had.
Not taking anything away from the Hearts who closed Tweedmouth down quickly and didnt let them play their football and when they had the ball passed well enough, but it was still an even contest with both sides having chances to open their account. It was the Hearts who showed inniative taking a quick corner to the near post finding a forward sliding in making no mistake from two yards.
One goal down at half time the Amateurs knew they still had a chance and stepped it up in the second half, but with fifteen minutes of the half gone the Hearts doubled their lead when a forward found himself free behind the visitors back four. A hint of off side plus a shout for handball went unheaded.
They added a third when two defenders missed kicked their clearances and a forwards missed kicked shot caught Paulson out in the visitors goal. before this Blackhall had a great shot with a diving header which flew over the bar. Philips outjumped the home goal keeper to give them a consolation, in the last ten minutes the Amateurs pushed but the Hearts defence stood firm and saw the game out to book their place in the semi final
Tweedmouth Colts 4 - 0 Hawick LR07/04/2012
The Colts returned to winning ways on Saturday after a dismal run which saw them win only once in there previous six.
Tweedmouth started brightly and were causing the visiting rearguard all sorts of problems with there running, particularly Purves and Inglis who were really taking the game to Hawick. It was no surprise when Tweedmouth opened the scoring through Inglis after a fine move down the left resulted in a simple tap in for the youngster.
There second came from a similar move but from the right this time and Matty Clark opened his body to convert a difficult chance from an acute angle. This seemed to allow the young Colts to take the shackles off that for some reason has been there downfall in recent weeks and they were opening up the pitch and playing some eye catching stuff.
The second half started at a bit stalemate with Hawick having a short spell of possession but JB Clark and Paul Cain thwarted any threat and the young Colts again were dominant, creating chances at will.It was only a matter of time before Purves and the impressive Bugiel converted two more to give the score a slightly truer complexion.
With the top four teams left to play in theyre run in the Colts must realise that this performance is a minimum requirement if they are to take anything else in the league campaign.

St. Boswells 0 Tweedmouth Colts 317/03/2012
With no wins in four the young Colts travelled to a much improved St.Boswells side who had signed two players from first division Newtown prior to the game.
The game itself started as a scrappy afair with neither side able to put there foot on the ball and chances at a premium.Young Ramsay, who was playing in a more advanced role, was causing the home defence problems with his tireless running and got his just reward when he finished off one of the few chances created in the first half.
With the second half under way Boswells started the stronger but Cain in the vising goal stood up to the challenge to keep his side in it.JB Clark was starting to control midfield and was well supported by Paul Cain and the young Colts gradually began to find the football that had deserted them in recent weeks and with the introduction of Purves they found themselves in control of the game and were rewarded when Inglis who was pulling the strings behind striker Patterson unleashed a terrific shot from all of twenty yards.
Purves added a third for the Colts who probably just deserved the points after there second half performance. With veterans Grieve and Dixon, along with an ever improving Cumming holding firm at the back the youngsters held on for a fine result.
The youngsters now have fifteen different scorers in there squad which is a credit to how they try to play the game.

Tweedmouth Colts 2 Winton 210/03/2012
The Colts entertained a strong Winton side on Saturday and were fortunate to take a point in what turned out in a lesson on how to be "street wise".
The young Colts got off to a great start when straight from kick off Patterson was up ended in the box and young Matty Clark dispatched the spot kick with fine precision.JB Clark was finding acres of space on the wing with intelligent movement but was seeing very little of the ball but on one of the rare occassions he did he was able to provide a driven ball with which a combined Patterson and Purves effort found the net.
Winton of course were always a threat and were begining to impose themselves more and more with there experience and Tweedmouths self destruct button when in possesion so it was no surprise when they pulled a goal back before the break when The Colts were slow, again,to react to Wintons second phase play and they scored when the ball could easily have been cleared.
The second half was an all one sided afair with the visitors dominating midfield and creating chances at will but were met by a stubborn resistance in the home reargurd but it was only a matter of time before they equlised when a needless free kick was conceded and as in past weeks an inability to clear there lines cost The Colts what was a deserved equaliser.
Winton pressed for the winner and The Colts introduced Henderson who showed great attitude when coming on and he caused Winton a few problems, but the home side continued to give away posession, which really should of been there downfall, however there will and determination saw them through for a point.
The young Colts must learn that not being intimidated, game plans and an ability to find there own team mates when passing are basic and vital at this level of the game.

Stow 3 Tweedmouth Amateurs 110/03/2012
The Amateurs started this game sluggish and found themselves two down at half time, but they still managed to create a few chances. Jordan Clark with a header well saved by the keeper, and Gary Robertson hit the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the box.
The second half was a different story, Nicky Clark, Aitchison and Brown took control of the midfeild and ran the game. Nicky Clark was upended in the home box and Gary Robertson made no mistake with the resulting spot kick.
The Amateurs pushed to get on level terms, both Robertson and Jordan Clark was again unlucky with shots that were just wide, and a well worked corner saw the keeper pull off a good save. If one of theese chances had gone in Tweedmouth might have gone on to win the game, but yet again missed chances cost them dearly, as it has been the fact over the season.
A long ball over the top from the Stow defence set a forward free to secure the points with only two minutes left on the clock.
Pencatland 2 Tweedmouth Amateurs 103/03/2012
Tweedmouth travelled to Pencatland in the cup and this would be a good test for them as Pencatland are unbeaten this season.
Tweedmouth started well and after a cross from clark was handeled by the homesides defender, they had the chance to take an early lead from the pen spot. The responsablity was down to Robertson who stepped up and made no mistake.
Tweedmouth had the lead but a good Pencatland side was growing into the game. The vistors were coping well but with a mistake the homeside got on level terms.
In the second half Tweedmouth created the best of the chances as both teams tryed to play football. Williamson was unlucky not to find the target after good play from Brown, Aitchison and Laverty in the midfield.
Pencatland grabbed a late winner to get to the next round but it was A good defencive display and all round performance by the Amateurs.
All the best to Pencatland in the next round.
